The extra-long staple cotton originating
from Barbados in the West Indies is a rare
and valuable original species.
Since its import to Japan in 1975,
the Sea Island Cotton Association now handles 70% of the world’s supply.
The extra-long staple cotton grown
in the Giza region of Egypt,
commonly known as GIZA,
is famous as one of the world’s top three cottons,
alongside Sea Island cotton and Xinjiang cotton.
It is a fine-count, high-density fabric
made from premium Supima cotton,
which undergoes special processing and is sun-dried,
resulting in a dry yet soft material.
